"An amazing feat of engineering, set in a spectacular location".
Industrial archaeology remains of the long abandoned 35km long ropeway built in 1904 to transport the minerals, goods and miners between the railway station of Chilecito (1076m) and the 'Mino La Mejicana' gold mine (4604m) near the top of the Cerro Famatina mountain.
It took four hours to reach destination one way (9km/h). There are 2 end stations and 7 intermediate stations, there are 262 towers.

SALINAS GRANDES tour from Salta.

The trip departs early in the morning following tracks of the famous Train of the Clouds through the colorful Quebrada del Toro spectacular scenic beauty where we see the mutation of nature as we climb up to over 4,000 m.s.n.m. I do like the atmosphere and the confusion at border points, but this one here is by far the most tolerant. It's now my favourite, despite the one hour taken by the paperwork process.

Found the administrative offices (following the less-packed people),
where a thorough, very professional inspection of documents and bags was made.
While, at the same time, almost all others bypassed the offices, without being disturbed.
These guys of Aguas Blancas' bus terminal explained how to continue my journey,
and also exchanged my remaining Bolivianos at a fair rate for Argentine Pesos.
